Papal Retrospective : Saint Pius X : 2

Saint Pius X (1903 - 1914).
On 4th August, 1903, Giuseppe Sarto, Cardinal-Patriarch of Venice, was elected Pope by the College of Cardinals and took the name Pius X.

We are pleased to present some further images of Saint Pius X.

 Solemn Papal Mass in S' Peter's Basilica, celebrated by Pius X.
 The Pope is seen on the left in this photograph, standing at the High Altar
during the Canon of the Mass.  He is surrounded by the ministers of the Mass
and members of the Papal Court.  In the centre of the photograph is
shewn kneeling the bishops-assistant at the Papal throne.
