Instaurare Omnia In Christo

The wonderful Latin motto, given above, was adopted by Pope Saint Pius X.  The Latin verb, instaurare in its classical sense, is to be translated as : to repair, to renew, to celebrate anew or to restore.  Typically, this phrase has been translated as To restore all things in Christ, but we see that the verb might also be rendered with the additional meanings given above.

The emphasis is not what we try to accomplish (in the verb) instaurare, but that all be focussed in Christo.

I offer these few words as a possible moment for our prayers in this week when the Conclave is to commence.  Without looking backwards dwelling on failings, let us earnestly pray that the new Pope will:

INSTAURARE OMNIA IN CHRISTO.

May I make another suggestion to the 700 daily readers of this blog?  Select a Cardinal from amongst the Cardinal-electors and pray for him.  Here is a page that you may visit to see the names of all the Cardinals.

We rely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, but we must also pray that the Cardinal-electors will be open to His guidance and as fully as possible.  May human canvassing for one candidate or another be set aside and each and every Cardinal seek from God sufficient human prudence, wisdom and courage.
