Mitre of the sixteenth century

The Saint Bede Studio

The mitre illustrated in this post was made from a brocade of ivory and muted gold.  Its circulus and titulus were formed from a combination of two of the Studio's unique braids.  The lining of the mitre and of the lappets was made from crimson-red taffeta.

This mitre is taller than the usual offerings of the Saint Bede Studio.  It is made according to the shape and dimensions of the Roman mitres of the early 16th century, before the exaggerations of the Baroque crept in.
