The Catholic world and especially the Church in Australia is saddened by the news of the unexpected death of His Eminence Cardinal Pell, which took place in Rome on Tuesday night (Rome time).
His Eminence suffered years of persecution, but his strong Faith was never shaken, only enriched. His Eminence had a clear vision for the Church, which was an apostolic and orthodox one. We wish his vision was more widely embraced in the Church.
His Eminence's death in close proximity to His late Holiness Benedict XVI is both poignant and fitting.
The Saint Bede Studio and the Guild of Archbishop Polding greatly valued and was assisted by the support of the Cardinal in its work.
