In Memory Benedict XVI : 8

We continue our series of posts in tribute to His late Holiness and in thanksgiving for his holy, faithful life. May his soul and the souls of all the Faithful Departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace.

In May 2011, Pope Benedict visited Venice and for that occasion he was presented with a magnificent chasuble set with matching mitre.  The vestments were inspired by mediaeval originals, although in a modern interpretation.  Noteworthy is the enrichment of the orphreys with pearls.

In 2012, Pope Benedict wore these vestments again, but this time also using the Papal Fanon: a distinctive shoulder cape reserved solely to the use of the Supreme Pontiff.
